I loved the Inn, one of the best and most fascinating places I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. Built like an island in a wetland it is a birders’ and nature-lovers’ paradise. I highly recommend this inn.

My husband and I have been under tremendous stress and needed a get away somewhere peaceful, relaxing and tranquil. This spot delivered it all.Marianne and Harold are incredible, they believed they could improve the estuary from the way it was before they purchased the land and managed to do so.We saw coho fry in the pond, heard and saw so many…More

If you ever get the opportunity to stay here I’d jump on it. It’s magnificent, and like no other place. You literally feel like you’re right in the marshland but in the comfort of an ultra modern home. The landscape is breath taking. I must’ve seen half a dozen different types of birds during breakfast alone. Hosts, Marianne and Harold,…More

This is the most memorable place we’ve ever stayed – and we travel a lot. Our room was beautifully and thoughtfully furnished – right outside our glass door and wall of windows was a pond and view of the bay. Our first afternoon we just sat on the patio and watched the wind surfers in the bay. Living room area,…More

Not only are Marianne and Harold amazing hosts, they are our very special friends! We stayed in the new suite and awoke every morning to a view of the bay and numerous wildlife. One morning a deer was out by the pond grazing. We could not have had a more relaxing and yet hectic week at The Inn. Our room…More

This has to be the most unique experience ever, comfortable beds, private, peaceful…the list goes on. The host and hostess were such nice people, I will miss them. I even found the wildlife friendly, the birds just sit and watch you watch them. You will be sorry that you didn’t make your trip longer.

Very cosy but spacious and well appointed unit close to Parksville – very quiet location We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere at the estuary. We stayed for 2 nights in March 2013 on our way from Victoria to Tofino which gave us plenty of time to look round the area and explore local marinas, lakes , beaches ,waterfalls and caves

This has to be one of the best places I have ever stayed… a little piece of paradise with everything catered for! The setting is stunning, right on the edge of the estuary, with views over the water and wildlife teeming. The room itself was beautiful and every detail attended to. The facilities were excellent, from the lovely linen and…More

Staying here is like being invited guests with access to the guest suite of a luxury home. A spacious suite with views along the estuary. Just the sound of birds and frogs. Wildlife is all around you. Breakfast provisions are left in the fridge so you can get up when you want. A food shop is close by, Nanaimo is…More

This Inn is the most amazing place and Harold and Mary Anne are the perfect hosts. It offers great luxury at a price that is really reasonable. Both suites are beautifully designed, anything you could want is available by opening a drawer or a closet. The bed is luxurious, the view is amazing, birds feed right outside your window. Don’t cut your stay here short:

Many of our guests having said after staying here only a couple of nights, they had wished they had booked for a longer stay. They didn’t realize how many closeby things there were to do in this area. So, we will list a few or them as time goes by and you judge for yourselves :)

Morecroft Camp. 5 minutes drive and a beauty to behold. Was originally a Christian camp, now, governed by the RDN (Regional District of Nanaimo) is a public park and beach. A beautiful stroll on natural paths, swim in the bay, observe tidal pools, or just sit in the sun and soak it all in.

Hop on the Harbour Ferry to the famous Dinghy Dock Pub/Restaurant on Protection Island for a fun adventure and great food.
